About Start Small Studios

Start Small is run by Max; an artist, producer and engineer, born near Portsmouth and based in East London. Max started his career at Strongroom Studios aged 18, a year after he moved to London. After a taste of the studio life, he moved into an ongoing freelance position with the family at RAK Studios, where he continues to learn and hone his skills as a producer and engineer.

Having worked for more than five years in large format analogue studios and whilst continuing to pursue his own career as an artist, Max wanted to bring his input and technical experience to a wider range of independent creative projects. Not just to develop an environment where affordable and professional recordings are consistently produced, but also to build a space to relax, experiment, and freely realise musical ideas.

With this ethos at its core, Start Small Studios was born.
