Intro

December is here and that can only mean one thing: grown adults across the nation, dancing to Mariah, wearing ties around their heads and vomiting rouge fountains of mulled wine on their superiors shoes. It's the work end-of-the-year event!

But don’t worry about all that just yet. All you’ve got to think about is whether or not you’ve booked somewhere worthy of such an occasion. And if you’ve just sat up in alarm and frantically checked your emails for a booking confirmation that doesn’t exist, then we’ve got you covered. Here’s our top 10 list of creative locations (that aren’t your office).

The List

1. Silly Towers

undefined

What?
A grassroots events venue that doesn’t break the bank. There are two spaces and each comes with an in-house PA system, small bar, fridge/freezer, bar equipment and an assortment of lights, sofas, benches and chairs.

Where?
Brixton.

Why?
It’s called “Silly Towers” and it’s run by “The Bureau of Silly Ideas”, what more do you need to know? If anyone is going to help you throw a fun filled party, it’s going to be this lot.

2. T-Bird Bar

undefined

What?
A comfy, late-night bar with a relaxed vibe. This location has both an upstairs and downstairs bar both stocked with a massive range of spirits, craft beers and cocktails.

Where?
Islington.

Why?
Not only are they known for hosting private parties, but if you’re dreading the pressures of presenting a playlist, they’ve got a classic jukebox stocked with 100 of the best albums over the last 50 years.

3. Toulouse Lautrec Jazz Bar

undefined

What?
An intimate jazz club that brims with the bohemian charm of Parisian jazz bars of a bygone era. It has a full sound system, a 1977 Yamaha Grand piano, a drum kit, disco lights and projector screen. There’s also a sound and light engineer available if needed.

Where?
Lambeth.

Why?
You can dine in style with a live band and, for at least a few minutes, retain a sense of decorum often lost after the third glass of mulled wine.

4. Gatsby’s Mansion

undefined

What?
This is the actual set of the longest running immersive show in the UK - The Great Gatsby. The mansion is an opulent 1920’s themed room, complete with a professional lighting rig, sound system and even a grand piano.

Where?
Westminster.

Why?
If opulence is your thing then you’re not going to be able to outdo renting the mansion of the Great Gatsby himself.

5. Canal Barge

undefined

What?
It’s a 60ft canal barge specifically designed for parties and events.

Where?
Hackney.

Why?
If you want to go down in history as the “Christmas Party Organiser Champion”, then you’re going to do that by throwing a party on a boat.

6. The Main Studio

undefined

What?
A quirky photo studio focused space with plenty of vibes. It’s got plug and play speakers and even a projector (for that Christmas themed Employee Awards power-point presentation).

Where?
Dalston.

Why?
If you’re a smaller-sized office, not looking for something too fancy but wanting a bit of glitz and glamour, then this spot is for you.

7. Bar A Bar

undefined

What?
A 250 capacity basement club with a cracking sound system.

Where?
Dalston.

Why?
You know every party hinges on its playlist and you’ve put in the hours: you’re not going to simply rely on some Spotify algorithm to awkwardly transition Last Christmas into Merry Xmas Everybody (Mariah into Noddy? Ouch). You’ve crafted the ultimate festive journey and you need a club sound system to do it justice.

8. Wac Arts

undefined

What?
A Victorian Hall that operates as a multi-functional space. It has capacity for 100 standing, 80 seated and 60 banquet style. It also comes with a PA and AV system, staging and an upright piano.

Where?
Camden.

Why?
If you’ve got an idea of what you want and just need the space, then this place is the perfect canvas.

9. The Wine Cellars

undefined

What?
Built in the 17th Century by Lord Francis Godolphin and used as an air raid shelter during WWII, these fascinating cellars house over 8,000 bottles of the World’s finest wines.

Where?
Westminster.

Why?
There’s already 8,000 reasons, do you need any more?

10. Bricky Blinders

undefined

What?
The Peaky Blinders have made use of the holiday season to travel to London, and you can spend the evening with them. This unique warehouse venue plays home to the Birmingham gang for one fully themed night of hedonism!

Where?
Tower Hamlets.

Why?
If you’ve got the money and no idea what to do, then this is your option. It’s a fully catered event with drinks, food, DJs, performers, lighting, production, security and, of course, a photo booth.
